While I've been out...

This is my first try at mobile bloggin'. Hopefully I will be more frequent if I can do it in my phone. This post is just going to be a boatload of pictures from the last time I posted.

I've been pretty good with taking pictures of my manis. Not too good with keeping track of what polishes I used. Oops! If you would like to know what was used let me know and I'll try and figure it out.

Thanks for sticking with me while I've been away and hopefully you'll be hearing from me soon. Until next time.

Sorry for the delay.....

Sorry I have been MIA lately. Work has been so crazy with mandatory overtime I have been way to wiped out to even paint my nails let alone take pictures and write posts about them.

I did a really cool tape mani last week with OPI DS Magic and China Glaze Liquid Leather. It reminded me of the picture day back drops from the 80's with the laser beams from elementary school .. However, it seems as if I only got two sub par pictures of it. These pictures do not do it justice.

I am not sure when or how often I will be able to post due to work. But I will try my best. Hope all is well with all of you and talk to you soon.

Midtown Magic

The other day I was at the mall getting a replacement iPhone.. and due to many frustrations I decided to check out the beauty supply store. There are a lot of new collections coming out soon and I was hoping they had some. Well I was in luck as they had the new China Glaze Metro collection. It took a lot of self control to not scoop the entire collection up (especially since I was so frustrated with my phone situation I definitely needed a little retail therapy). However, I only purchased 2 bottles, Loft-y Ambitions and Midtown Magic.

I was a little disappointed in the shimmer/ glitter within it. It is a little difficult to see but I still like the color. It is a deep blackened brown (it looks black in some lights, or lack thereof ) with multi colored shimmer. The shimmer is mostly copper and gold. You can defiantly see the multi shimmer in the bottle but it is a lot harder to see on the nail. In my opinion on the nail the shimmer is mostly copper.

Since it is still summer I feel that I shouldn't be wearing all of these dark vampy colors ( I wore OPI Manicurist of Seville the other day and LOVED it.. Didn't get any good pics though. Sadness) Anywho, here is Midtown Magic.

UPDATE: I think Midtown Magic is a dupe for OPI DS Mystery. Yes, I know Midtown Magic has a blackened brown base and DS Mystery has a deep purple base but after 2 coats of each they look amazingly similar. I just need to do a swatch of both to compare.

Blurred to see the shimmer. See it is mostly copper.

But in the bottle you can see a lot of the gold.

My Water Marbling Attempt

After seeing all of these amazing water marble manis all over the interwebs I decided to give it a whirl. Instead of trying to be too ambitious I was only going to do an accent nail on each hand. I gathered all of my supplies and started at it. My first attempt was a success! Could it be that easy?! Famous last words... In the end I have 1 accent nail, my first attempt at water marbling ever.

When I tried to do my right hand accent nail it was a complete fail. I think I redid it about 5 or 6 times and then just gave up. But I guess for a first try one decent nail isn't too bad. I really like the color combo. At first I was using more colors but they wouldn't spread. I also think that the heat may have been a factor in my fail as it has been sooooo hot!!!!! It seemed as if the polish dried instantly and I couldn't spread it around. Oh well, there is always next time. Does anyone else have a similar experience? Or any tips if you have been successful at it?

I used Essie- Trophy Wife for the full mani and then China Glaze- Liquid Leather and Senorita Bonita for the marble.

I found it really hard to capture the marble. Here are the best pictures I could get.

In a Galaxy. Far Far Away.

Todays mani was part of the Monday Nail Art Challenge over at Polish-aholics Anonymous. This Monday's theme was glitter bomb. Now I am still working on my nail art skills but I figured glitter bomb was right up my alley. Plus I had just gotten the entire Wizard of Oh Ahz Returns collection which is all glitter.

I really liked the result of this, but it is a biotch to photograph (plus I am STILL using my iPhone because my Nikon Coolpix has just about had it and will not focus on anything. Grrr) It looks sooo much better in person and I think this is my favorite mani to date.

I started with a black base of Sinful Black on Black and then just went crazy with the sponging. I think I used China Glaze Ruby Pumps, Dorothy Who?, C-C-Courage, and Nova, then Milani Blue Flash, Purple Rush, and Racy Green.

The end result really reminds me of a picture of the galaxies you would see from NASA or something.. Just beautiful!!!

Blurred to see all the sparkly awesomeness.

Close up to kind of see the galaxy effect (it is way cooler in person)

Essie Smooth Sailing

I figured I would break this up into two posts since my storage post was a little long. So here is today's mani. I used two coats of China Glaze Pelican Gray as my base. I used Essie Smooth Sailing (oh how I love that color) for the design and tips. The design was from the new Bundle Monster plates #201.

These pictures are still from my iPhone. I checked out my camera settings as Thalie at Glazed Talons suggested, but I didn't have a macro setting or the other option she referred to. Oh well. Thanks for the advice anyways.  Guess I just need to get a new camera (I am a serious shopaholic so it's not that bad of a thing.. lol)

This color combo reminded me of the mani I did the other day with Zoya Dove and Caitlin. But didn't realize until after I had finished. Oh well I still like it.

Happy 4th of July!

This is going to be a quick post. Here is my 4th of July mani. It really bugged me that I did White, Red and Blue, rather than Red, White and Blue. The method behind the madness was I was originally going to use white for stamping and I didn't want the white stamp on the white stripe. Obviously I changed my mind.

This was Sally Hansen Rapid Red, Wet N Wild Saved by the Blue and China Glaze White on White. The stamp was from a Bundle Monster plate but I cannot remember the number and I used an un-named silver from Hot Topic.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy fourth!

Moonlit Madness

I decided to choose a color that was not in the blue or green family for today's mani.. I had found Orly's Moonlit Madness in the clearance bin at Sally's a few weeks ago. So I decided to take that for a spin.

The name Moonlit Madness does not shout red to me at all! But what am I to say. It really is a nice color, a dark red shimmer.... It was really pretty all on its own. Then I had to go and ruin it. I had just gotten China Glaze Nova and could have sworn I saw someone use it for stamping.. I was sadly mistaken. To fix my mistake I just painted over my entire nail..

I guess they are not that bad, but it was not the mani I was planning on doing. I need to locate some Holo polishes for stamping, I think that is what I saw and thought it was a glitter. And glitters are just not polishes you stamp with!

Unfortunately I jumped on the polish bandwagon too late to own any of the wonderful holos that were released and unless I want to pay crazy prices on Amazon or Ebay, I will just have to dream... Sigh.

So if any of my "many" followers (ha ha) out there want to bestow upon me a much coveted holo, your generousness would be greatly appreciated. =)

My Stamping dilemma and Color Obession!

Ok.. So I know that I really like the color blue.. But I think I need to branch out a little on my manis and use a different color!!!! Like Woah! Most of them include some sort of blue in them, today's included. I am going to try some summery color combo for my next maini.. Promise!

On to my dilemma.. How do you do a full nail stamp/konad when your nails are bigger than the stamp? Today's mani the majority of my nails are fine (the stamp barely missed the tips) but my thumb!!! Yikes! It's just a rectangle in the middle of the nail.. I need to learn some tips of the trade on that.. Or maybe I have abnormally large thumbs (please say no)?

This is China Glaze Black Diamond with Sally Hansen Color Quick in Turquoise Chrome. Let me say, I LOVE the Color Quick pens for stamping. This is also Bundle Monster Plate BM19.

See what I mean with the thumb? How can I fix this?

On a side note, Zoya is running an AWESOME promotion right now on their Facebook page. You can get Ivanka and Charla for FREE with ANY purchase (excluding color spoons).. I have already placed my order!

Number 1

So this is my first attempt at blogging.. Here goes!

I started using Pinterest a while back, which introduced me to nail polish.. It's not like I have never used nail polish before but, it wasn't anything special. Plus I wasn't that great at it. Well it all changed when I saw pictures from Chloes Nails OMG she is amazing! Let's just say that is when my nail polish obsession started!

Since that time I need to buy more colors and try new techniques. I love the funky french (which I am still trying to perfect) and I also starting stamping (not as hard as I expected). So here are the manicures that I have done so far. Thanks for reading!

China Glaze Frostbite with Glacier over it.
